Sophie Inspired Poncho

Here is my Sophie Inspired Poncho

Thank You Dedri Uys for letting me post the Link to her Sophie Pattern

You can find the pattern here:

You will need to scroll down the page of the link above for Dedri's Pattern Links

What you will need:

4 Sophie's, (Rows 1 - 27) made with a 4MM hook and DK Yarn

Row 28:  In one of the corner spaces, work a standing dc, then 1 more dc. Continue in dc, and work around your square, when you get to a corner, 2dc, ch2, 2dc. Do not forget the 'hidden sts' before and after the corner spaces. When you get back to the start, 2dc, ch2 & sl st into top of standing dc.

Row 29:  Working 2dc, ch2, 2dc, in each corner space, make 24 V-Sts (dc, ch2, dc) evenly along each side (you should skip 2 sts between each one).

Row 30:  Working 2dc, ch2, 2dc, in each corner space, ch2, in each V-St, (dc3 tog cluster, ch 2)

Fasten Off

Join squares together using whatever method you prefer. I just did ch2, sc in first square, ch2, sc in corresponding sp in second square (see pics below):

To finish:
Standing dc, dc2 in corner sp, in next ch2 sp, (5dc, sc in next ch2 sp,) around, working 3dc, ch2, 3dc in corner space, when you get back to the starting corner, ch2, 3dc. Fasten off.

For V-Neck (make 2)
Ch93, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc to end

Work 3 or 4 rows in FPDC & BPDC RIB

Join both pieces together so that each end forms a V, and sew to neck from wrong side.

Beautiful work! What yarn did you use? Multiple colors or a varigated?

Again, just so I get to see your comment cause I forgot to click the button on first comment. It is beautiful work and looks like a joy to wear. What yarn did you use? Multiple colors or varigated?

How much yarn did you use, I want to order the Ice yarn, and need to know how much.

Thanks,
Lee Werk
btw: your poncho is beautiful and I hope the Ice yarn will look similar.

I would get 4. You may not use all of it but better safe than sorry. The balls are 200g each. So sorry for the delay in replying. I had knee re construction on both knees 24th June, and am still in rehab.

Love this pattern. Beautiful! Good luck on the rehab. I did both mine when 47. Was worth the pain and effort. Work as a nurse now!

I am almost done with my four sophie's and I hate to ask but approximately what size does this fit. I am rather tall and round. So far the four are looking a bit small for me.

thank you
Starr

Hello, I checked your pattern against the Sophie Universe CAL. What I love about yours is the simplification of the last 5 rows (that turn the circle to a square) of the CAL but your written pattern doesn’t seem to include those. Any chance you could update your pattern to include them? (The corners are really the issue... removing the three half flowers at each corner.) Thanks so much!
