Iszak's Christening Present

Ben's Godson is being Christened soon. This is what I'm making him:

Farmyard Playmat,

based on this pattern

https://www.anniescatalog.com/detail.html?prod_id=89082

And one of these Houses (haven't decided which one)

If I have time, i will make some animals as well!!

The mat folds into a box. I will just have to make a lid for it!!

Iszak Dillon: World's Smallest Black Belt!!

My son Ben (28), became a Godfather, just over 4 months ago. He promised Iszak's parents, Jeff & Imogen that Iszak would be the World's Youngest Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do!!  Lol

Ben has been teaching Tae Kwon Do for 10 years & loves it.

For Iszak's Christening gift, Ben asked me to make a Dobok, Iszak sized!!

Here it is so far:

Isn't it cute??  Just one sleeve to go!!

Dividing for Back, Shoulders & Armholes

Fold piece in half. Place marker into the stitch in the centre at top, count 23 sts either side of centre st & place markers. These are for shoulder straps at back. Remove centre marker. Count down 25 sts from last marker, and place another stitch marker. Do the same for the other side. These are for the beginning and end of armholes. See pic below:

Round 1:  Join yarn at marker top right. Ch4 (for first tr), work 1 tr in next 3 sts, 1 dc in next 4 sts, 1 hdc in next 4 sts, sc in next 23 sts, 1hdc in next 4 sts, 1dc in next 4 sts, 1 tr in last 4 sts, turn

FOR SMALL - LARGE - FASTEN OFF. FOR SIZES XL AND UP WORK EXTRA ROWS, BUT CH 4 IN BETWEEN LG SHELLS & DC

See pic below after 6 rows

Front Straps:

Decide where you want the straps to be. I wanted mine, in 4 rows from the edge.

If changing colors each row of edging like I did, you will need to work straps to match.  I also fastened off after each row & WORKED ONLY ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY WORK. I CHOSE NOT TO TURN. THIS IS UP TO YOU!!

FDC 12. Fasten off, leaving a long end to sew to front.

Dc 13 more rows. Fasten off, leaving long end, and sew to back straps & wherever you have chosen to place them in the front.

I ALSO CHOSE TO DO AN EDGING AROUND NECKLINE & ARMHOLES!!

I JUST DID FAN STITCH EVENLY AROUND.

TO FINISH OFF YOU CAN SEW TOGGLES ONTO ONE FRONT EDGE, OR DO AS I DID.

With double thickness of yarn, make a chain long enough to lace up front for 4 SHELLS. I chained 100.

Sew in all ends.

VOILA!!  YOU ARE ALL DONE
